How much of a dualist was Descartes or if he was actually a monist is itself debatable, but that'd take us on a tangent. That the english translation places “thought” in the gerund is remarkable, giving it a processual undertone that points to a possible bridge with Lorenz Puntel's predicate-only, or subject-less propositions in his (perhaps excessively) language-based ontology.
