Politics is more complicated than that!

Yes definitely. So few people are gonna vote here, having the resources to reach people in the closing stretch is most of the ballgame

I just donated to Aftyn Behn, imo your dollars go far in a low turnout special like this, and this is a great time to help them get what they need to close. Throw her a few bucks if you’re inclined, and if you know anyone who lives in Nashville/Central TN, give them a friendly reminder to vote!

Yeah I’m skeptical too but then again, I didn’t believe it last year when Ken Buck predicted more departures would follow his and then Mike Gallagher resigned two weeks later

I think of it as the money being the reason for the date, not the overall resignation if that makes sense?

Had the same thought

Noting the congressional pension is based on service time, it kicks in at 5 years and her retirement date - Jan. 5, 2026 - will be the first business day after she passes five years since her first swearing in. bsky.app/profile/heli...
Any idea why she's quitting then? Her statement isn't very coherent (big surprise), although it would make more sense as an explanation of just not running for re-election.

I’m not, I’m saying they were incapable of good faith! I’m saying they would - and did! - use any available excuse for covering for Trump, it’s their most consistent behavior and they wouldn’t have changed their stripes to be good faith actors just because we rushed em a little. That is naive!

You can have that argument with someone else, I was talking specifically about the post January 6th impeachment of Donald Trump and the myth that Republicans would have done the right thing had the question been put to them a few days earlier, which is silly and naive

This is wrong and he is wrong and you are wrong but the great thing for you guys is it's impossible to prove so you never have any reason not to say it
