i really am not sure, i was too young to care much. the only thing i remember about the sound quality is that my brother and i would sit there and replay the THX sound from the beginning of movies over and over again. i can't believe they survived as long as they did with the way we beat on them

we had the huge ones when i was a kid. my brother has a pair of the new little ones. they're interesting, incredible soundstage but you literally have to be exactly in the sweet spot. much better for some music than others. ECM jazz sounds great, big star not as much. for the diana krall heads lol
