I have an historian friend who's a crank re "gerrymander" being pronounced with a hard "g" 'cause that's how Elbridge Gerry pronounced his name. Which is true, it appears, but so what? Gerry's long dead and millions of people have long used the soft "g." So it goes. 🤣
