My Google Photos app just reminded me we had a little snow in Austin 15 years ago today (Feb 4, 2011.) The photo also reminded me that i used to be able to see all the way to the back of my garage. Just a fond memory now.

Caught the tail end of a small ICE protest in far south Austin around 2:15. Maybe 3 dozen kids. One told me they walked from Bailey Middle School which is about 3 miles away. That’s quite a hike… which would explain why they ended up cooling their heels at the local Starbucks.

I made one last trip to H-E-B for critical supplies before the freezing cold. H-E-B says it will be closing at 5pm today (Jan 24.)

If you're looking for a generator to prepare for the weekend cold you may find the cupboard bare. I did today at my Home Depot in South Austin. Luckily i got mine after the 2021 statewide freeze and I test it monthly. I'm set. Are you?

January 10th, 2002 Rachel Cooke disappeared while out on a run near her family’s home outside Georgetown. She was never seen again but her family and friends haven’t given up hope. We will not forget.
