what I find happens is that people seem to be listening but their eyes wander down and I have to wonder if they're really paying attention

I miss the ease with which I was allowed to move through the world, but I also don't think I ever really *experienced* that ease, because I never felt quite right in that version of myself.

I think I miss being able to do simple tasks without being as self conscious about appearance, voice, etc.
