Ocean science, too. NOAA has massive archives of public domain photos and illustrations going back over 100 years. NOAA's precursor agencies even set the precedent for making government works public domain.

Can't imagine ignoring that for some slop crab with weird claws.

Yeah. I’ve seen AI-generated nebulae that were only obviously fake to me because I know what the real ones look like but there are so many real ones that are completely free and very easy to find!

For spacey presentations, when you can get all the real images you'd ever want from NASA, it's even more mystifying that someone would choose weird made-up slop.

I'd literally rather see blank slides or colour blocks. GAI adds nothing whatsoever. A friend told me about a talk on diversity in the workpkace where they used badly genned images of ""diverse"" people, and it detracted so badly from the talk she couldn't remember anything else about it to say
