#OTD 2001 – Brian Schmetzer, 39, Sounders player in both NASL & A-League eras and Seattle native, is named Sounders head coach. He served as player/assistant coach with Seattle SeaDogs from 1995-97 and is coaching director of Emerald City FC.

#OTD 2021 – Dylan Teves completes his 2nd straight hat trick in extra time, sending Washington through to NCAA Elite 8 by rallying to beat Indiana 3-2. Teves twice levels it, then 6 minutes into overtime Lucas Meek leads Teves into space and he finds left corner.

Only collegiate match being played in WA this weekend will be 3pm today in Bellingham, with Western Washington women hosting Azusa Pacific in NCAA D2 2nd round. Seattle Pacific men play 2nd round D2 game at Midwestern State in Wichita Falls at 1pm PST. Washington men & women back in action Sunday.

#OTD 1998 – Behind Hope Solo's 2 goals, Richland wins WA girls' 4A championship over Curtis, 3-1. Solo, U18 YNT's goalkeeper, scores her 37th & 38th goals of her senior season as Bombers finish 20-0-0. Richland, ranked #4 nationally, only 2nd 4A team from 509 to win state.
