Yep, checked the Subvert alpha site out last night now that I have access as a supporter member. Looking good.

Yes, it's working for me now too, and I was able to complete the survey. Yay!

“Pretty sure Rice-a-Roni is still the San Francisco treat, too.”

It is! I cooked some just recently for a casserole recipe, and it’s right on the box.

In fact, since people are apparently getting Yubikey errors even if they don't have a Yubikey, X may have screwed up login for everyone using a so-called passkey to login, including software-based passkeys supported in Chrome, Windows, macOS, etc. What a royal cock-up. 2/2

No, it’s just to verify that the person trying to login has possession of the key. It doesn’t check your fingerprint; anyone could touch the key.

This reminds me of the claim/report that Crunchyroll executives didn’t want to hire people that were anime fans.

To rescue at least some of my 18th century English literature cred, I should add that I *have* read both Richardson’s Pamela and Fielding’s Shamela.

If he were reincarnated today Samuel Richardson would be the terror of AO3.

Ah, I got about 1/3 of the way through Clarissa (same paperback edition as yours) and then stalled out. Incidentally, I will forever bear a grudge against Penguin for spoiling key plot points on the back cover blurb.

I did a major double-take on this one. I worked with a Gervase Markham (now deceased) at the Mozilla Foundation. He's not in the regular Wikipedia (the original G.M. takes pride of place), but he's the only Gervase Markham in the Simple English Wikipedia variant: simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gervase...

By the way, if you're a Smith fan you may also enjoy John Sladek's parody short story, "One Damned Thing After Another: A Co-ordainer's Myth". It's quite funny. It's not available online, but you can find it in The Best of John Sladek (which also includes a great Philip K. Dick parody). 2/2

For some reason I missed this post when it came out. Thanks for writing it! I was a teenager when I first read Cordwainer Smith and have all the collections and the novel. I'd add that Linebarger was a major fan of Chinese and Asian culture in general, so Japanese fans are returning the favor. 1/2
