How it's going

Getting more confident. Silhouette and contrast exercises have been a huge help. Ideally I'd do at least one study like this a week but that's not gonna be feasible with my current work schedule.

The livery smelled strongly of its occupants, the reek of their grassy dung. It reminded Anselda of her old mare. Carrotflower, her coat a burnished chestnut, a swift and lively beast that had carried her from battlefield to battlefield. Her hearing was gone by the time she and Ethra reached the Tal and Anselda had had to guide her by charism. She remembered her mind; gentle at grazing, joyous at a gallop, wary of the sound of gunfire. Poor beast. Shrapnel had grazed her leg and left her lame. If it had been up to Anselda, she would have found a field of heather somewhere, far from danger, and left her there to live out her days in peace. But a war had many mouths to feed, and a horse gave up much good meat.
