I am excited to say, Friday, I finished Passage 8 of the Arizona Trail. My first full passage!
This Thanksgiving Holiday I decided to blackout shopping 11/25-12/2, and Metta related social media. Instead we focused on family, nature, and working creatively with our hands.

Harvesting what is left of the winter garden so we can prepare for the onslaught of warm weather.

Time to turn over the garden beds for the warmer spring gardens.Last week I made a delicious roasted veggy mix. Yesterday(no pic) was a white bean kale soup.*Rain=Soup*I still have more kale than me or my extended family can eat.So here comes my favorite part 🙄, processing and preservation.

Update on the Water Harvesting Garden. Basin are formed and lined with stone. We also had enough rain yesterday to try out our first flush. Huge success!!🎉. We have been continuing to use the gray water system every weekend when we wash. No more wash water emptying into the sewer system!!

More work on the side yard garden. We planted our fruiting plants, artichokes and connected the gray water system to each plant. Did a "wet" run, and 🎉 we are now using our washing machine to water our fruit trees!! We even got enough rain last night to fill up our first flush on the tank.

Side yard renovation has begun! Our yard has about 8-12 inches of soil set on a foundation of granite backfill. We decided to create a Desert Oasis in the side yard, of mostly native plants watered by rainwater tanks and some non native fruiting plants watered by our gray water system.

I spent the day keeping myself pleasantly productive around the garden listening to @hcrichardson.bsky.social to stay sane during this inauguration weekend.
