I honestly do no know. I have spent my life within the maturing of the technology first deployed In the US Navy’s ICBMs the IC. Most “big leaps” have been IC reaching some threshold of complexity and the exploitation of that complexity. The need of AI to squander billions

So Sony is doing the streaming thing and trying to buy its way into control of a platform . In this case Anime outside Japan. How well has that worked out for the other streaming platforms ?

Apple did not force a science fiction brain storm from Steve Job’s mind onto the world by spending VP money. Apple integrated existing technology to the point that a normal person in 2007 could find a lot of uses for it. There is no such deep well developed technology waiting for AI to use.

iPhone released 2007 had its roots going back to the Lisa released in 1983. Over those decades Apple has several near death experiences. Another root is the pre iPhone smartphones like the blackberry. Of course the third root is digital wireless data.

The Journalist using the iPhone success as so many investors having FOMO about AI seems either part of the con to me or the extremely short institutional knowledge of modern corporations. Or Both.

Republicans have now made child molestation a political issue. It was once just climate change, then proper disease control, then medicine in general. And the press follow them like lille lap dogs. At no point does the press look outside the window and notice the sky is blue and just say so.

Because that person lives in a world where they see a unfamiliar word and their first instinct is believe it is IP. They see all fantasy as part of corporate culture. There is a huge window at their finger tips that can show them otherwise and they are incapable of using it.

I just checked, google still works well enough to answer the question ( What is a fay ) in half a dozen different ways and even google ai gives a not bad answer. Starting with the assumption that everything is IP and not being able to shake it is brain rot.

Isn’t this just a term for what needs to happen for cars or robots to be autonomous and that work has been going on for years with lots of money behind it & nothing but tech demos to show for it ? More money for research now is not going to affect Meta’s bottom line for a decade or two.

Not anymore of course . All the republican leadership now has permission, from the press corps, to behave the same way. That will trickle down to business leaders and then anyone in a position of power.
