My school's football team is playing in the state finals tomorrow (4 hrs away!) so we have a weird schedule and I had to adapt what I was going to do in AP Stats. And yet I think I like this approach better! Funny what can happen when we're forced to change.

I'm so thankful for the people I work with. It's been a rough 2 months at home and I've never felt more loved by my colleagues. So happy to be at the school I landed at 23 years ago!

Told my AP Stats kids that I'm in the Ohio Hoop Zone Hall of Fame today. (True.) They mostly believed me; I only admitted to one student that I was the statistician for the team. He thought it was awesome.

I typically have students change seats every quarter. Today someone asked if they could have a seat change (apparently there's been a falling out with a neighbor). Any ideas for how to approach this?

Just got an unexpected 3-day extension on my winter break! I'm just happy that exam days are easy to leave sub plans for. 🙄

Gave students 5 days to complete a take-home test and told them my deadline wouldn't be extended. I've gotten 3 emails since that deadline asking if I would reopen the assignment. It makes me sad to say no and sad that they asked.

Anyone else have problems with student attendance this year, even more so than usual? It's crazy how many kids miss 1-2 days every week. (And then of course today was a senior skip day. 🙄)

Started my day with a parent/student/teachers meeting where the S said my math class ruins his whole day and he doesn't like me. So that was fun. And then I spent the rest of my day with Ss who like and (I think) appreciate me. You can't take anything personally in this job!
