Here’s a satellite image I found. Notice how the smog extends from China then gets trapped by the Central Mountain Range. Western Taiwan stays smoggy while east of the mountains the air improves.

This is from almost exactly a year ago…
As long as the wind isn’t blowing in from mainland China the air quality in Taiwan is generally good by Asia standards and has been for about the last decade. It’s hard to predict when that will or won’t happen…

Depends a lot on which direction the wind blows in from. Earlier this month visibility was pretty good.

If there’s a highlight of trying to get around Taiwan it’s taking the THSR…
And that’s when I do the traveling around on my own as my dad is too cheap to take the THSR. I mean why spend 95 mins on the train when you can spend 9hrs on a bus?
