As Canada faces another year of rampant wildfires, Forests Canada is partnering with Cariboo Carbon Solutions to help private landowners and First Nations communities restore their forests by planting 2.3 million trees in British Columbia over the next five years.

Invasive tree species, like the Tree-of-Heaven, often disguise themselves as native. This tree is commonly misidentified as either sumac or ash; however, some key identifiable features make it stand out. Check out our graphic to help you #ID this #invasivespecies

You may think all maple leaves look alike, but being able to identify them can help you find invasive species. Norway Maple leaves are often mistaken for Sugar Maple leaves, but they do have some distinguishing features. Check out our graphic to learn how to ID this invasive #tree species!

Happy #WorldTurtleDay! #DYK that Canada has eight native species of freshwater turtles? Although turtles spend a lot of time in the water, they come up on land & travel between wetlands to build nests. Some even utilize forested areas for habitat, food & shelter. Isn't that turtle-y awesome!

Our planting partners, Raisin Region Conservation Authority, hand planted 550 new trees on this afforestation site in a floodplain along a watercourse to increase forest cover. The trees planted included a mix of Silver Maple, Tamarack, White Cedar, Black Spruce, Black Walnut, & Black Willow.

On Tuesday, Forests Canada CEO Jess Kaknevicius and Education Manager Allison Hands were presented King Charles III Coronation Medals by Lieutenant Governor of Ontario Edith Dumont. They received the honour for their distinguished work in forest restoration and education.

Today, our Education Outreach Coordinator, Madeleine Bray, attended the Skills Ontario Young Women's Conference with Ontario Wood, PLT Canada & OMNR. The day was spent talking to high school students & educators about our education programs – including Envirothon & Tree Bee – how trees grow & more!

Last week, we celebrated Earth Month with Smith+Andersen by rocking out at #EcoJam2025! 🌎🎶

This year was another amazing showstopper, raising a record-breaking $75,000 for Forests Canada to help us get more trees in the ground across Canada. 🌲🌳

Today, 83 students in grades four to six are testing their tree identification skills and forest conservation knowledge at Durham's #TreeBee. Best of luck to all the students as they continue to plant the seeds of knowledge!

The #ONEnvirothon Toronto workshop is currently underway! Our Forests Canada team, alongside the Toronto Region Conservation Authority and Ontario Streams, are helping 10 student teams prepare for the regional competition. Best of luck to all those participating!
