So yes, #katabasis is a rollicking skewering of academia, but is it more than that? Yes. I wasn't terribly impressed in the first half, but the second was definitely worth it. It goes places. Not my favorite novel of the year (Hello, Martha Wells!) but I will definitely pick up more R.F. Kuang.
