My latest interview with Australian Tendai priest Jikai Tyler Dehn. Jikai is dedicated to translating all the works of Tendai founder Saicho into English. Check him out on YouTube or his website. His dedication to the dharma is inspiring.

My favorite Buddhist hungry ghost image. Insatiable in their desires, hungry ghosts wander the world for aeons bothering humans and must be placated through ritual offerings. Being reborn as a hungry ghost is not a desirable rebirth, to say the least.

May your holidays be as dark as the nights, as colorful as the lights, and overflowing with bottles of champagne 🍾 🥂 Take the red pill, it will help.

One of my more uncommon plants flowered today: a small caudex plant from the deserts of southwest Africa. My winter grow room is full of flowers, but this slow-grower is extra special.

Stuck in Philly's historic 30th St Station for an hour or so. Truly one of the world's greatest train stations. I love these huge, grand old train stations and their imposing sense of liminality.

Ladakh, Nubra Valley, Diskit Gompa, 2024

Diskit Gompa, founded in the 14th century, is one of the oldest monasteries in Nubra Valley. I can still feel the wind on my face and hear the prayer wheels turning.

Gary Hoisington (1950 – 2024), known as Gary Indiana, was an American writer, artist, and cultural critic. His characterization of American "depraved indifference" rings true now more than ever. I would add Dunning-Krugar into his mélange of atrocious traits.
