80% of language model related papers are just crap. People shoveling papers of little to no consequence, in many cases not aware that the thing they tried has already been done.

Working in upper positions in any of Elon's companies must suck. He literally takes all credit while they do all the work.
Or, when something doesn't work, "big bad woke left sabotaged the servers". Lmao

NPU?.. All of ML is basically just matmuls, and we can do those pretty fast. I'm guessing it's entirely a marketing gimmick then?

Yeah, I guess we agree then :)
I think nowadays it's much more common to know how mainstream media ends before you see it yourself (social media, memes, etc). And you can only get pissed off for so many spoiled movies in your life.

Interesting. After reading a number of books/dissertations I've grown numb to dedications, a sort of "unwritten rule" kind of way.
If every multi-year effort is dedicated to someone, is it truly special? Maybe I'm thinking about it the wrong way.

Indeed, but it signals that people working on it typically come from these universities :)

This is a very interesting idea. Have you thought of this yourself, or did some other games use something similar? Kinda reminds me of the object list in Dwarf Fortress enumerating everything on the map (albeit different).

Yeah, I think a large part of calling people "dumb" is just saying they're in the opposite camp or not liking their actions (i.e more like venting). If you re-asked them if they think Elon is dumb, they'd probably say no.

Maybe, we just want to think the other person is rational, because then it'd be easier to understand them, dunno.

There's another level to this, in understanding the type of communication of the other person. I have a few friends who behave as if everybody is rational, then act confused when they're not. Ironically, they themselves aren't super-rational either.

Yeah, happy time in the Baltics. Usually we have local city events and concerts.
For me personally, I'm also sad that it'll only get darker starting today.. Today is 1 second longer than yesterday but 5 seconds shorter than tomorrow 😭

Yeah, the irregular rays give it a very natural feel! Also made me wonder, whether terrain-specific rays could work -- something like semi-occlusive foliage from random angles. And thanks for the link! roguebasin looks like a fantastic resource
