IMVU still has a homepage where you are in full control of the background, can add or remove elements from it, change the layout completely, even add "stickers" all over it. This still only scratches the surface of what we once were able to.

I'm unsure if there has ever been any other way to make an account on anything at all since 2007, even those "log in with google or apple" essentially still do the same thing just with a middleman.
