I was considering trolling the Internet with an unboxing video in which I pretended not to know what I had and unboxed it while pretending to have greasy fingers, but the internet doesn't need more meanness.

Psst. Jewelry-making pals. I've got some market intel you might be able to use.

This is a cane strap. It's a common functional attachment that allows a cane user to drop their cane without it falling to the ground, which is useful for temporary use of that hand, or if they don't have a great grip.
A hand holds up a lovely sparkling indigo cane that color-shifts between purple and blue. Its stylish derby handle and eye catching color attract regular compliments. The cane has two attachments: one is a small wing-shaped pair of hooks for hanging the cane on chairs and tables. It's functional and unassuming. Above that, a black plastic clip buckle attaches the cane to a wide black elastic strap to secure it to the bearer's wrist. The strap is not aesthetically pleasing.

I don't know EXACTLY who needs to hear this but I know it's at least some folks who do daily planners: your planner doesn't need to be fancy! It doesn't need fancy stencils, multicolor artwork, stickers, or washi tape.

All your planner actually needs to do is work for you.
My dot grid journal open to this week's planner spread. Some items are partially blacked out for privacy. The top of the left-hand page is the week section. It has a list of high-level todos for the week: things like "finish gift wrapping" and "draft short story." To the right of that is a plain habit tracker that's just the dates of the week across the top and 3 habits listed on the lines underneath, with Xs marked in the dot grid squares where the dates and habits intersect. Underneath is a "goals" section with the item "log 5x," because I'm trying to regain consistency in my planner use. (It's totally different from the habit tracker because reasons). Below the weekly section is a straight line drawn with the ruler I use as a bookmark, A section labeled "21st," then a list of tasks for yesterday, mostly checked off. Another straight line appears above today's section, marked "22nd," followed by today's tasks. Tasks with an X next to them are done; tasks with a dot aren't done yet. All of this is in my normal handwriting. There's no calligraphy, drawings, or stickers. The layout is neat, but plain. The fancy ruler I got to do cool fancy notebook spreads but which I actually use only as a bookmark and straightedge is sitting across the bottom of the page. On the right-hand blank page is a notebook sleeve with 4 pens (pilot vanishing points) to help hold the notebook open. Each section is in its own color because I have four different pens and I feel like it but you can do the same thing with a single pen or pencil; the colors are the only decorative element.

Lol speaking of Christie, while I was complaining on here I got an ad for a version of a public domain Christie novel with an AI slop cover. The jacket copy was just the first few paragraphs of the Wikipedia page.

Todo: stitch down the sides of the pocket welts, line the buttonholes on the lining side, and assemble
Front panels for two waistcoats made of heathered charcoal wool with dove grey silk linings sit on a green cutting mat. Two strips of hair canvas interfacing that will reinforce the center front (and the buttonholes) are stacked on top of the front pieces, along with a pile of small rectangles of the lining fabric that will be used to line the button holes on the lining side.

Quakers don't bow to kings
My SIL and me on a sidewalk. I'm wearing Quaker plain dress and sitting in a lawn chair, holding my cane in my right hand, and holding an 18x20" sign with my left hand/lap. It’s white with large black lettering and says "cursed is ANYONE who withholds JUSTICE from IMMIGRANTS - Deut 27:19. Behind me, my SIL, standing, is holding a sign in the same style that says "the good Samaritan was an IMMIGRANT (that's the point).” She's wearing a pride shirt.

Her delight is not really clear now that she has it on and is just lounging in it, but she tried it on last night and when Boy Wonder offered it to her earlier this evening she was very enthusiastic to put it back on.

A yellow dot grid Leuchtterm1917 sits open on a wooden table. It's on its final pages, and another blue one sits closed under its right-hand side. The blue notebook has metallic sticker of a redheaded woman with an earring that says "ñ," and the words "PyLadies en Español." A fat red horizon ruler with many built-in stencils that I'm very definitely going to use at some point and don't just use as a straightedge (like you've never bought a $25 aspirational art tool? Shut up) obscures the writing already on the open page of the yellow notebook. On top of it sits a carbon fiber Pilot Vanishing Point fountain pen with the tip retracted. Further back on the table, a black pen sleeve holds three more Vanishing Points. A small stack of index cards is crammed into the sleeve and I'll have you know I DO use those; they're an integral part of my editing process.

Happy Friday to the Maryland State flag
The Maryland flag consists of four quadrants depicting the Calvert and Crossland family crests in yellow, black, red, and white. A bold monument to maximalism. Chivalrous in its devotion to heraldic tradition. Is it beautiful? It loves itself, and that's beautiful. It doesn't need your approval—but it wants you to know that it sees you trying your best and it's proud of you.
