Rest in Peace to the Forest Gump of rock and roll, Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay. Say hi to Keith, Jerry, Pigpen, & Phil for us. Thanks for introducing Keith to Jerry & for every note that came after. Enjoy the great gig in the sky where there are no phase cancelling mics from the wall of sound

"You have to have faith in what Phil is playing. That's the key. He plays the bass as though he invented the instrument & nobody had ever played it before him." - Jerry Garcia
One year gone already, huh? Rest in Peace, Phil. Thanks for every note you played while you were searching for the sound

I tried these at a friend's house yesterday for the first time & was surprised at how nice they are. My buddy doesn't smoke much, but started digging these, & i get why. They didn't get me baked by any stretch, they just left me feeling nice & relaxed. Good stuff

I tend to revisit this Dave's Picks each August, & I'm always happy when I do. The Bird Song & Playing in the Band back to back to close the 1st set is some '72 psychedelic goodness

From 3 Rivers in '90. you can catch the moment in Mexicali where Jerry gets the pick out from behind his missing digit & switches from finger picking to using his pick

Happy Anniversary to the Grateful Dead and The Velvet Underground sharing a bill at the Electric Theatre in Chicago, though I don't think they liked each other all too much. I've read that the VU went long on the 25th cutting into the Dead's set, eliciting this response from Pigpen on the 26th:
