Also, to your point, learning stuff takes effort, work, and you have to be out of your comfort zone. Simply hanging around with people who "disagree" with you is a way to *look* like you think hard about stuff without actually doing any work...

One way I understand this rhetoric is that it often comes from people who are actually in a "bubble" or "echo chamber" ie. prominent journalist, pundits, and authors who are in a social circle where there are real barriers to entry, like wealth or success.

It turns out it was a suboptimal decision to try to placate the shreikers who are never happy with anything, ever, no matter what

i mean what are these "western values" these guys are so hopped up about? they are directly antagonistic to western europe. they don't believe in civil liberties. they reject democracy. and don't get me started on christianity, they hate their white neighbors almost as much as the brown ones
