So yes, TL:DR - highly recommend @pretendwithdice.bsky.social - they are coming up close to the finale of this current series too so be sure to catch up!

Also - I know that quite a number of NPCs are revoiced by other members of the UK AP community (having been a previous voice on a later episode) and again, whilst I can appreciate how much effort/logstics it takes to do that - it really pays off to hear a myriad of voices!

The show also has a 'Recap of Season 1' episode just prior to the Season 2 opener SO whilst there are a number of NPCs introduced, newer listeners can learn who's who easily without being lost.

Also this particular episode opens on the Holodeck which we all know is the best part of Star Trek.

And this is to say - this rerecording never changing anything that was put to the players, the options they have or the outcome - just more efficiently rephrase the GM's narration and tie it back to any mechanics/checks which are needed easily.

Genuinely couldn't tell as it was so seamless.

I have done the odd retake of a line here and there but now I feel empowered to redo more afterwards if it helps streamline the narrative. I have asked players to redo lines if it gets stumbled on/so we have a clean take but maybe I should do it more too!

Naturally such rerecordings will depend on what is being said/how much needs to be redone etc but genuinely have never thought about rerecording whole sections of GM's narration to help reduce down table talk/move the story along AFTER the session has been recorded.

Well, it's possible because @ajheretic666.bsky.social is incredibly skilled as an editor AND rerecords some his own narration after the fact so the listeners get a more succient version of events.

Whilst I appreciate this might seem obvious, not many podcasts take the time to do this in post!

I have to talk about the table talk around the mission which was laid on in the briefing. Naturally some table talk will happen in APs and you can't cut it all out as it is relevant to the story. But here it all felt not only relevant but efficient/to the point. How is it possible?

The cast is not only engaged with the story hooks presented but clearly enjoys playing with each other. Great chemistry. Often felt I was in the same room of them all just listening in and chuckling along with them.

Also, despite my lack of up to date Star Trek knowledge, I never felt left out!

First up @ajheretic666.bsky.social, not only GMs brilliantly but also edits, sound designs and MAKES THE MUSIC you hear in every episode.

The background sound bed of interior hums feels like I am on a starfleet ship in space - it is that immersive. So good. I love a good communicator beep!

It's been a long time since I have watched any Star Trek but oh my word I felt the nostalgia hit when listening to this episode.

If you loved Next Generation, Voyager and Deep Space 9, I can highly recommended this show. It hits all those lovely notes.
