I live in Athens GA and I like movies and barbecue.
My son asked “Why does this town have places called Athentic, Athica, and Atheneum? It’s confusing.”

I replied that I have no idea and promptly drove to the wrong damn place for a holiday market, proving his point. Anyway, here are some soup dumplings that we had for supper.

Without wishing to spoil things, I'll just say that I'm sure I share all of Fire-Breathing Dimetrodon Time readers' pleasure and satisfaction at seeing this beloved location returning to television again this weekend. #iykyk #easteregg

The way that these posters on my @letterboxd.social watchlist lined up makes me smile. It looks like And Now the Screaming Starts is ripping down the bottom of the poster above it!

About once a year, I order the Grill’s feta dressing, once amazing and, these days, emphatically not, hoping it’s as good as it once was and leaving disappointed. I’ll still stand by this excellent pepper supreme burger, but I guess I should accept the feta I loved isn’t coming back.

If you enjoy my food writing, you know I love Calvin Trillin’s story of the fellow who’d stop at Kresge’s for a chili dog on his way to lunch. Inspired, we took a walk this morning, then stopped by Billy Meadows for a chili dog on the way to lunch. #BBQ #athensga

A 3-way for lunch at the Hi-Lo this afternoon. They don’t normally use quite this much cheese, but I’m glad they did!

Our friend Marilyn, who we haven’t seen in ages, was in town and we took her to Maepole for lunch. Tonight, we’re at Preacher Green’s and this might be the planet’s absolute best chicken sandwich.

This film is bugnuts. John Waters is right to love it; I think I do, too.

To celebrate Richard Burton’s centenary, I’m watching BOOM! today. It’s beginning as bonkers as I’ve read.

I really didn’t enjoy Sanshiro Sugata part two (1945, Kurosawa’s fourth film) very much, but I loved this dude’s trash talk.

When I was 10, I imagined not only having a "Shogun Warrior" of my favorite giant robot, Grandizer, but also his launching spaceship. I learned today there actually was one in the 1970s! It was a ride-on toy for preschoolers! Source: robotjapan.proboards.com

I'm telling you, every Eurospy movie at the end of the sixties should have gone to Montreal to shoot!
