in one holiday cabin I read a 10 year back catalogue of Maureen Lipman columns in Good Housekeeping and a selection of Clive James columns that had been cut out and kept. Great stuff.

I curated perfect bookcases scattered around the house with interesting titles and slightly lurid covers to tempt the teens into reading. It hasn’t worked.

It accused a father who didn’t want cochlear implants for his deaf son of child abuse and the doctors operated without consent. Awful.

Yup, based on the stories told by Bill Lawrence’s friends initially IIRC. When the plot was based on something that’s not really a medical decision but more holistic there tended to be errors. (Also, don’t rile the deaf community)

Then the episode ended and I realised it was episode 3. Went back to the real beginning and in massive letters, white on black it said RUSSIA.

I started to watch The Great and loved how complex it was, having to run and catch up with who the characters are, just starting in the middle of the action. I thought it was soooo clever. 1/2

Was there a giant cardboard dragon there? I have the vaguest of memories of meeting Fat Puffin at some event - we went all the way into That London to join in - probably my happiest (albeit vaguest) early memory
