Je to německá tradice, což je za rohem. Sice jen 70 let stará, ale o to populárnější.

A jestli vám tan nesedí ty asijský bylinky, zkuste si představit vánoce bez skořice, zázvoru a hřebíčku...

We used a little confusing translation. Není to černý kapr ale kapr na černo. Obyčejný český kapr s omáčkou z černého piva.

Jo, ty máš pravdu, já se pletu.

Yeah, but it was not a chritmas tradition. It was just one of many lenten food options.

Even funnier when you know that this whole age old tradition was invented in the 50s by the communist government to solve carp overpopulation and limited supply of better fish.

What I meant is that concept of nationality today is different than then. Nationalism sounded like "I want Czech language and literature in schools!" / "I want Czech lands to be independent," not "I will never have a proper job, because I'm ethnically Czech"

When I read the old A-H books, there is not much talk about ethnicity. Hungary was another part of the same country, albeit more rural one than the industrial Austria.

So don't imagine a black doctor in 50s US hospital, imagine a doctor from rural Alabama in an elite New England hospital.

Are you sure about that? AFAIK the Hungarian part was seen as generally more backwards than the Austrian part, but A-H was generally pretty inclusive.

The problem was that he lacked a scientific explanation, he just had statistical correlations. Also his suggestions offended surgeons' egos

Also between 1850-1900 doctors gradually and begrudgeingly accepted than maybe they should wash their hands.

Souhlasim. Je tu míň adiktivní design, tudíž tu lidi tráví míň času. Navíc tu mnohem víc lidí používá chronologické feedy, ve kterých mají lajky jen symbolickou rovinu.

A neopomněl bych, že část sleďů jsou pasivní účty, lidi, co založili, osledovali a pak sem přestali chodit.

A vůbec...není náhodou ten Albert národní kulturní památkou?

(I have no idea if that's what they intend to do, but this path would make sense to me)

WhatsApp is currently trying to get into that market.

But I definitely would not be opposed to an interoperable alternative where I can either mix posts from germ channels into my Bluesky feeds or use germ to follow a bsky account, receiving their posts to an inbox instead of a feed...

And while I agree it makes no sense to implement ATproto in a Signal-like personal messenger, it makes sense when you intend to build something like Telegram, with public channels and chatrooms, basically a social network built on top of a messaging platform.

I am totally okay with invite-only access early in the development process, it's a nice way to grow slowly while ironing out your quirks. You don't want your unfinished beta to accidentally go viral and give millions of less tech-savvy users bad first impression.
