He/him and copywriter/former journalist/Quaker/KSER community radio board member. Opinions here are mine as I post about music, sports, radio, news, politics, etc. In love with dying media, especially shortwave and AM radio. Go Linfield Wildcats and Zags!
In-laws coming to visit us this weekend, so we're vacuuming. Violet is not a fan of that contraption, of course, so she's pouting.

Lots of terrible choices on the ballot this election, but at least I can vote for my wife Kristin as an official candidate this time!

It was impossible to get a photo of the huge crowd at the No Kings rally in downtown Everett today -- way bigger crowd than the previous No Kings rally this past summer had.

Viagra Boys put on a heck of a show in Seattle last night. The Showbox SoDo was more packed than any other club-hosted concert I've ever been to, and it was hot in there. But it was also oh so fun as my 18-y.o. experienced his first rock concert seeing a band we BOTH really like!

In more trivial news, I got a QSL card via the old-fashioned mail today confirming I heard the HAARP broadcasts from Alaska many months ago. Conspiracy buffs may know HAARP as the facility that allegedly can change the planet's weather (it can't).

Our youngest kid started 11th grade today. She has only one daily class, band, until her Running Start classes at Everett Community College begin late this month. Still, we insisted on a first-day-of-school photo.

Anyway, my wife and I or our family gets down to Seattle a half-dozen times a year on average; it's becoming more often as our kids are older and traveling into downtown isn't the hassle it was when the kids were small. On Friday night, my wife and I went to the Josh Johnson show at the Moore ...

Spent our 28th wedding anniversary night at an @everettaquasox.bsky.social game. Like the #Mariners, the Frogs came up a bit short in a loss, but fun was had and fireworks were watched on this warm August evening.

Life is full of decisions, both good and bad, that shape our lives. But the best decision I ever made was marrying this woman on this day 28 years ago.

Did I add a page that's just photos of radio towers to my already radio-geek-oriented website? Yes, I did. treehouseswl.mystrikingly.com/radio-towers

On vacations, I take photos of AM broadcast towers. At left, the two towers of KAST 1370 in Astoria, Oregon. At right, the tower of KSWB 840 in Seaside, Oregon, which sadly is broadcasting only silence these days.

Today is day 9 since I first came down with COVID symptoms. The test finally says I'm "clear." My family is trying to decide if they trust me not to be contagious.

Yeah, so, the news at large continues to be bad. Ugh.

Hey, if you want to distract yourself with radio geekiness, I've launched a new website (still a work in progress!) where I'm posting colorful QSL cards and more radio-related miscellaneous. Find it here: treehouseswl.mystrikingly.com

Things are bad when even I -- an introvert who's not crazy about big crowds -- decide to go to a protest. Thousands showed up in downtown Everett this afternoon to say "no kings."
