Jack-of-all-hobbies, master of none.
As the title suggests, Fleshwater's 2000: In Search of the Endless Sky calls back to a time and sound and it does it very well. The shoegaze revival is well and truly underway and long may it continue.

Hayden Pedigo makes his guitar sing beautiful Americana on I'll Be Waving As You Drive Away. Stripped back compositions allow for his guitar playing and voice to take centre stage in an enchanting album.

With a haze and distortion washing over you, Slow Crush's Thirst seeps into your mind and settles nicely in to bring you along for the ride. Sometimes it's a wall of sound overwhelming the senses that you need.

For all your sludge and dirty riff needs, look no further than Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs' Death Hilarious. Great guitars, great dirt and great groove. The cure for what ails you.

A hell of a debut from Sandfall Interactive, Clair Obscur not so subtly drew me back to FFX which is no bad thing. They tweaked the formula and built a world unlike anything in recent memory. A testament to creativity, and a deserved game of the year.

The boys at From don't miss. Nightreign brings the gameplay of Souls to a frantic battle Royale style mode where time is of the essence. Messy, chaotic combat allows for cool plays and skills combining on your three person team to hopefully coalesce and best the Nightlord. Yes please.

A great year for puzzle games, Blue Prince broke my brain multiple times in the best way. Tasked with finding room 46, the house folds in on itself and is never the same twice. Environmental puzzles await as the secrets laid on secrets reveal the story lying beneath.

Grand, sweeping and expansive, Death Stranding 2 picks up right where the original left off. The sequel sands off a lot of the rough edges making the experience a lot easier to handle. The core loop of delivering packages is just as meditative, pulling you into the trance of just one more drive.

There's something about a corkboard and string connecting clues that gets the blood pumping. If this describes you I heartily recommend The Roottrees are Dead. Enough mystery and intrigue to keep you engaged, this is a delightful puzzler that will stay with you after you put it down.

Sometimes the ones that stick with you are the ones you don't expect. I had no real connection to this, Nicole Kidman wouldn't be a favourite, but her turn as a CEO looking for something more than the organized and structured life she's built is handled extremely well.

PTA never misses. One hell of a thriller from start to finish, it's packed to the brim with a stellar cast. Everybody at a high level in this but special mention for Benecio del Toro as the Sensei and Sean Penn as Colonel Lockjaw. Nobody can tell me Penn hasn't modelled that walk on Vince McMahon.

An extremely smart, taut and stylish spy thriller, Black Bag is the type of film that we need more of, not less, in the present day. An excellent cast hold the stage with skill and energy. An engaging plot hits the gas immediately and keeps you on tenterhooks right to the end.

If you like Tim Robinson even a bit this is required viewing. His askew and awkward staging is played perfectly here in a feature that evolves from his earlier sketch work. Paul Rudd fits in effortlessly here and really helps to make the whole thing shine. Top tier comedy from the man himself.

An intensity that is hard to match, Warfare pinpoints a specific event in a war to show brutality unseen. The pointlessness of what happens only heightens the unnecessary bloodshed. Good cast across the way it's the visuals and audio that shine here the most as you're dropped into a warzone.

A complicated man, always a good portal into sucking me in to a story. Here, Mark Ruffalo puts on a clinic as Tom Brandis, an ageing FBI agent with a lot going on. Tom Pelphrey's Robbie by contrast is just looking for a way out and revenge. Great thriller as plots converge to a greater whole.

The mystery box is alive and well, crucially for Severance they're doing a very good job of actually providing answers along with the numerous questions. Escalation was the name of the game for the season and where things are left you wonder how much left there is. Very excited for season three.

It was a bumpy ride for The Bear in its previous season. The fallout from Carmy's meltdown never really went anywhere and felt the show was stalling. Season four however helps bring the full picture to bear and with an endgame in sight it can start cooking again.

In direct contrast to Adolescence, The Studio centres on a bumbling, desperate for the glory studio executive in Hollywood played by Seth Rogen. Tons of cameos help fill this out with lots of parallel universe possibilities - have you ever wanted to see Ron Howard annihilate someone? Of course!

TV up first, it feels like every year there's a Netflix show that comes out of nowhere and does its thing before disappearing again like a thief in the night. Adolescence is the pick this year with a miraculous first acting performance from Owen Cooper. Heavy subject matter that hits on all levels.

Said it under your article already but thanks for all the coverage and your other non-Raiders work too, it's been a top reason why I've subscribed for so long. Looking forward to seeing what you do next!

Doesn't seem to be a play clock (at least in Pats/Raiders anyway) which is odd
