I had some leftover mappers that I salvaged from junked NES cartridge PCBs. I also did the front label printing in-house. But I wouldn't say that I "profit" off these per-se, I just charge the cost of parts and a little bit for my time.

Hmm, I might be able to fix it if that's the case.

Is it one of those voice boxes you can remove?

Genesis 1 and 2 are stereo systems. It's just where the stereo audio is located, is different. The Genesis 3 is natively mono, but can be modded for stereo audio.
All SNES consoles are stereo, as well.

The other thing worth noting is that NES games are not programmed with a stereo mode. So even if you were to emulate the audio in the same way Hi-Def NES does and add a stereo mode, none of the games are able to use it at all.

It used to be really popular because people thought having two separate audio channels meant you could at least get some sort of pseudo-stereo out of the NES. Not knowing or realizing that not all NES games are created equal, musically.

The difference is that the NES is not ACTUALLY capable of Stereo. The audio chip only has one pin doing a specific wave table, and the second pin doing everything else. Their is no stereo panning, it's all just separated channel audio.

As a little teaser, here is one of the repros that will be available when these are completed. 👀

They are! And they're easy to make, just takes some prep time.

Once you make the mashed potatoes, you mix in a half cup of corn starch per pound of potatoes. Put it in a zip lock bag, flatten it out, and make sure it is air-tight. Leave it in the fridge for an hour. Remove and cut up the mashed potato slab and deep fry in small batches.

Counterargument:
You need it to test to make sure your controller port fully works. 😛
