As the late George carlin said:
"How about those people in Kilauea, Hawaii who build their homes right next to an active volcano and then wonder why they have lava in the living room?"

It was a "feature" of the Su-24: hydraulic fly by wire, all the levers in the cockpit "defrated" to a low point when the aircraft was parked.

Once the pump started, levers rised up, catching copilot's ejection handle under the seat.

They tested seats were truly 0-altitude safe multiple times.

There was a soviet bomber, don't remember the model, that had this endemic problem: it had an hydraulic system, when parked the levers "deflated" to a low position in the cockpit.

When the airplane powered up, the levers rised up catching copilot's ejection handle.

And, yipie...

feel like a old story from Giovannino Guareschi, about a big tree the german were bound to cut in 1944.
The general gist was: "they are ransacking so much timber it looked they were planning to stop the enemy wielding planks and poles"

(the family tree was saved, in the end)

Seems so.

And it has that warm, cozy "comfort food" feeling, in photo.

Honestly, it's just a matter of habits, on pratical matters.

Again, I switched the most common tools, here and there when I have another need I pick an EU-compliant app.
Once the chromebook (yeah, smart from me, uh?) I'm using to type this will fry, I'll buy another laptop and restart google-free.

So, having all tied togheter in a single database is worth the hassle to switch from app A to app B?

Some food for thought.

Watch it from outside: you got convenience and speed in exchange of being traced on everything you do, where do you go, what do you buy.
You got told what's the best product based on what google knows of you - and there is a subtle difference: what google suggest is for your best? or their best?

How strange is to have a search engine, a mail, a map.

Coming from a google account, of course it's all conveniently in one bundle: your map talk to your mail, that open your cloud if you search something all in the same pond.

How annoying to jump from app "search" to app "map", right?

I switched to Ecosia (www.ecosia.org) as search engine, I'm still trying to find a map site that I like, my mail was already on a EU server.

Oh, BTW: Ecosia plants trees. For real. www.fao.org/e-agricultur...

But it took me a while to realize one thing:
Ecosia search engine: Plant trees while you search the web | e-Agriculture | Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations

"Recover" sounds... painful.

For sure.
JD Vance just opened the freakshow.

But bigger dogs tried to bully EU.
Facebook, Apple, Google.

EU stood with grace and quiet dignity thru the storm of lawyers: and won.

Won't be a small dog half-backed by a faction in the White House and some in the kremlin to worry Bruxelles.
December 5, 2025 at 5:01 PM
And Google.

The EU is soft-spoken, demure, bureaucratic. EU asks, EU invites - Americans think it's weakness.

They don't really get the implicit "or else" in that softball letters.

Untill push comes to shove, and US giant companies surrendered.

X has 90 days to comply in full, or else...

True.

120m€ is pocket change, for him.

But the plain, demure EU-speak hides as usual an implicit "or else".
Fix it in 90 days and show how you fixed it.

If not-compliant, well, would be a pity if you lost 450 million rich first-world customers in a click, right?

fun fact: the pizza Margherita - tomato sauce/mozzarella/basilic - was created for a visit of princess Margherita to Naples, 1889.
Tricolor🇮🇹 and a proof: science!
Naples go to the future!
NOW we know know how to put tomato sauces in jars and tins, instead of drying them!
Industrialization is here!
