Political scientists most frequently incorporate elements of law and economics. We find no significant evidence that interdisciplinary work gets fewer (or more) citations than unidisciplinary contributions. 5/6

We find that authors rarely explicitly claim to conduct interdisciplinary research. However, collaborations between authors from different disciplines are more common. It is the most common for scholars to incorporate elements (theories, methods, etc.) from several disciplines into their work. 4/6

Empirically, we analyze ways of combining disciplines in published European studies research. Three questions guide our analysis:
1) How interdisciplinary is European Studies?
2) Which types of interdisciplinarity are most common?
