The same applies to the "proxy war" argument. If it were one, it would be over, because the US has basically capitulated. But it isn't.

It's a funny thought that there used to be masses in Old Church Slavonic in Alaska until recently.

I remember my Czech teacher explaining it exactly like this *as a rule*, and he was very much the old-fashioned linguist. In Slovak, it's Ivanovi Novákovi, though.
