Perks of living in Kiel
Yet another Kieler Woche came and went. And this time I introduced many guests - from three year olds to very many year olds - to the world of seismology. So glad, I could be part of a diverse presentation by Kiel University at the Kiellinie - the heart of the Kieler Woche fair.

Poster sessions at #EGU25 are set for 90 minutes. But the stream of people coming to my poster just didn’t stop, so I talked for 4:30 hours…
But the discussions came out to be very inspiring!

Went to GFZ Potsdam for a small workshop expecting to talk about some works in the Eifel in front of seismologists. Had to improvise when I found out that also quite a few rock chemists, volcanologists and other non-seismologists were present. Hope I didn’t bore them too much 🫠

Our 6th AdriaArray workshop on the island of San Servolo in the Laguna of Venice came to a close.
Besides lots of actually interesting talks, a poster session and practical workshops we also had a fun Early Career Researcher Event where I met new awesome people!

This is the lovely island of San Servolo in the Laguna of Venice. Here we currently hold the AdriaArray workshop. Today we started with some overview talks and poster presentations. I enjoy it so much!

Really looking forward to the next Great Debate at #EGU25 where we‘re again going to hear that we just “have to talk about climate change” and “keep spreading awareness” while the other side is fighting with these massive bazookas.

Unfortunately, the next DOGE target looks to be the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which includes the National Weather Service and National Hurricane Center.
DOGE apparently informed senior staff to plan to reduce its staff by 50% and funding by 30%.

On the very last day of the promotion I managed to fill up my bonus card and got a free pumpkin spiced latte at the cafeteria.

We had a small excursion with a few students to the coastline just outside of Kiel where we found lot’s of different rocks.
Though the sky was pretty grey it was a lovely field trip!
