By comparison, this is how it's working right now: Regardless of skill range the HP bar will show up if the creature is damaged, or if the mouse or the player are near the creature.

Also, there is a small "problem?" that I don't know if should be fixed, notice I said "currently in range", because some skills take time to deal the damage. The enemies could very well move outside of range. Not sure how to solve this, or even if needs solving 😅

We thought about having two options to switch from, however both versions have no art. They are not "built" yet, it's mostly placeholder.

Your definition of "crafted accessibility vs designed efficiency" is pretty much what we were going for, so we might start with "crafted accessibility", thanks!
