Ben stows away in the back of a pickup. He falls asleep and accidentally rolls out of the truck in a remote area. Soon, an antigravity beam lifts him from the ground and transports him to a nearby house.

While Gwen is taken to the hospital unconscious, Peter swears to take down whoever's responsible for her injuries. After tracing the Schemer, Spider-Man breaks into his hideout. Spidey takes down the whole band, but the Schemer escapes.

At the moment Gwen and Peter are strolling down the street, the Schemer's gang attacks a Kingpin truck that is hurled towards the two, leaving them trapped under it.

This issue marks the first appearance of Vanessa, the Kingpin's wife, who will have great importance in his future.
