The Crow by James O'Barr. All emotion. All rage. All caged in immaculate lines and tones. The perfect book for wannabe teenagers.

Batman & Robin by Grant Morrison et al. This was some of the most challenging works I read in my early "monthly" comics reading. Never have I been as frustrated yet madly in love with a work as this. Morrison remains my (problematic?) fave.

Avengers vol 1 by Brian Micheal Bendis. Bendis and Romita Jr’s big revamp post Siege felt so massive when I was a kid, especially with excitement ramping up for the MCU film. Lots of big set pieces and wacky visual concepts like Thor flying into Galactus’s head are seared into my brain.

This is bait, a classic Jaffe jape.

Project A-Ko (1986). The dub is admittedly pretty dated but if you want the authentic “every-anime-all-at-once” experience, I’d go with that.

You’d think “based on the hit video game” would be more of the focus here.

3. Now absolutely is not the time for national pride for people in the states. It’s probably how they got to this point. Now is likely more a time for humble, sober reflection. The American way sucks.

2. As someone looking in from the outside, historically the American way is about “superiority, cruelty and dominance”. That’s the doctrine of any colonial project. It’s why there was genocide against indigenous peoples in the US. It’s why the Global South has become the way it is.

I haven’t even played Strive and you know I got Disaster of Passion on deck everyday.

That Batman guy is pretty cool.

Heroes in Crisis was bad, actually.

Darwyn Cooke should’ve made more comics before his passing.

Jack Kirby did great work the entirety of his career and deserves credit for it.

I think DC is hesitant to release that stuff because of all the minstrel characters. That being said I would be shocked if a proper Neal Adams/Denny O’Neil collection hasn’t been l in discussion.

Best comic of 2025. What a banger.
