My entry for the VGen monthly artist access contest, finally finished. I had a lot of fun with this, and thought I'd choose this for the subject because their story is so sweet but so tragic, and Undertale is very important to me as a game. Winners are chosen by popular vote, and winners will be announced by the 15th of January, about a week after my birthday. It would be so hyped if i won. It would be like a neat little birthday present and one huge step closer to making my dreams come true. Opening commissions and chasing creative freedom is the one thing i want out of this life

Posting my tiny little man here. Pixle is very birdlike, despite his feathers resembling fur. Also I decided he needed pads and beans on his hands. His peets (feet) have beans and pads too. Retractable claws go BRRRT-

I wanted to include a small time lapse, but bluesky was trying to crop it really bad. :') I have a very specific kind of design philosophy I wanted to go for here. If you've seen Pixel Architect's work on Chef RPG over on YouTube, you might know what I'm going for here. But with my work here, I wanted to try and preserve the original feel of Undertale with its wonky sort of Earthbound perspective. I'm also doing the assets in a much larger scale than the source material so there's more detail. And I think I ended up deciding on a player sprite size of 64 pixels? Idk about the player sprite size in Undertale, but the size for most tiles is 20 pixels. Although I'm not making tiles for this project. I like how it's coming along so far, but I might go back in and make this room longer like it is in the original game.

Friendly disclaimer, i will never post blatantly nsfw works on my bsky, but my content is not meant to be for minors for a multitude of reasons that don't have anything to do with nsfw reasons. This is the sauciest my posts will ever get. Tex is a spirit king. His body is notably robotic, if not slightly organic looking with panels that flow and bend and twist like a musculature system. Laced across his body are bright red wires that glow slightly. It's not immediately apparent with this artwork, but i wanted him to be almost cat-like?? So his antenna are highly expressive and are meant to move like a cat's ears. I also gave him claws, toe-bean like pads on his hands, and a long cord tail that can swish and sway like a cat's. Tex's parents were both catlike spirits. Tex's relationship with his body has not always been the strongest, and you could almost say he's a ghost in a shell.. Anyways, my game had a slightly different concept when i initially planned my characters, and Tex was designed and named the way he was because i was paying tribute to my LITERAL PERSONAL COMPUTER. It's a very long story ^^" His head looks like a crt tv, i know, but it's meant to be like one of those old bulky computer monitors. Believe me guys, i wanted to make it a curved monitor like my actual monitor, then i wanted to try making it flat, but i was making myself mad when i was trying to draw his initial sketches from different sides and angles. So square computer head it was, oh well! I love him so much as it is.

It's dimly lit in the study. Pixle reclines amongst piles of crumpled, ragged research papers and old history tomes, a red orb clutched in one of his hands. He stares into the distance, his eyebrows furrowed like he's troubled or frustrated. The orb in his hand is cracked, there's a dim silhouette of a heart encased in its crystalline recesses. He's discovered a troubling truth that tests the limits of his morals and ethics. === I WAS going to include glyphs, runes, and text on the papers and books, but I was running out of time and just wanted to get this out there because it's been so long. 😭 Soon I'll release a remastered version with the text and stuff.

I really wanted to make a tribute to my favorite cartoon series ever, but unfortunately i bit off FAR MORE than i could chew and started waaay too late into the month, then i started procrastinating and also had to work so i didn't even get to finish the basic sketch oops ^^" Over the Garden Wall means so much to me though, it's an absolute masterpiece of media tho. I definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. :)

Formally introducing Spectre "Muse" Tex. He's a spirit king and the husband of Pixle. His deal is that as a spirit, his magical power was too powerful for his body to contain when he was younger and it was causing him great bodily harm and essentially leaving him as a soul without a proper physical form and very weak. So his parents commissioned an engineer to create a body to protect him and overtime he fused with the body, pretty much becoming corporeal after a certain point. He's essentially a ghost inhabiting a bio cybernetic(?) shell.

Pixle is a creature known in Heartfelt as a "spirit". He is tragically the last surviving member of his particular species, and serves as royal advisor and record keeper. Faced with the total destruction of his home, and the eradication of spirit kind as a whole at the hands of mysterious and nefarious forces he often works tirelessly going through mountains of books and literature on spirit history to unravel their secrets. All in the hopes of helping his king to find a way of saving their people.

Iiii was honestly really tempted not to post this thing because i started to get really bored with it after i finished rendering the trees and the sky, so i wound up kind of rushing everything else. I still think it's pretty, but i definitely kind of fudged it here and there for the sake of forcing myself to finish it, defo NOT my best work. But it comes with a piece of lore! TLDR; In the world of Heartfelt spirits are mystical/magical beings that exist alongside humans and like in a fantastical Wonderland sort of realm. In this realm, spirits have created a little ritual that allows spirits that love each other very much to link or bond their souls together! It acts as a sort of spiritual/magical tether that allows bonded spirits to discern the emotional and physical condition of their partner and also find their way back to eachother. :) This painting features my characters Tex (the tall one) and Pixle (the small one) shortly after their bonding ceremony

"IT'S NOT SPAMTENNA!!1!" I scream as they drag me back into my padded cell. In all seriousness, no. These are simply my silly little guys. The little guy is named Pixel, and the beeg one is Tex ("A COMPUTER!!" I scream through the door of my padded cell). They are happily married! I haven't played or seen part three of Deltarune, Tenna has me in a chokehold and i probably wouldn't have designed Tex the way i did if it wasn't for Tenna's existence, i admit that without shame. Idk, i love them, Tex and Pixel i mean. They're meant to party members for the Heartfelt protagonist. :)
