that is not being conveyed in the official design is being expanded on in the redesign? why is the artist making these choices? what about this character are they telling us?

anyway. saw a really nice redesign that i thought was better than the og and got annoyed by ppl talking nonsense lol

like sure you could also redesign a character into a more visually pleasing version of their official design, that can be a really fun exercise! but seeing a completely visually distinct redesign and being like “uuhh that’s someone else” misses the point entirely?? what about the character (3/?)

into a lot of really diverse looks. an official design’s visual characteristics arent necessarily core to who they are?like a character’s white hair doesn’t HAVE to be white - it’s white to signify that they’re old/touched by magic/etc etc you could convey that same idea in other ways visually (2/?)
