It's not we the people who are yielding. Tuesday proved that. We're just the ones tied to the back of the horses while the "important people" drive the wagon off a cliff. And we're getting pretty sick of it, to be honest.
November 10, 2025 at 5:46 PM
I'm with you on that. We've got a hell of a hole to dig our way out of. But there's always a way back. It'll just take effort. Next year is going to be exhausting.
November 10, 2025 at 4:00 PM
I'm concerned that 12 more months of that will do irrevocable damage to what's left of our country without some kind of pushback to stop them. But we'll see how it plays out.
November 10, 2025 at 3:57 PM
We'll just have to agree to disagree on that. I personally believe there were signs that the Republicans were feeling pressure to move. And my caving when they did, democrats gave them breathing room to reinforce their abysmal policy that lie, deny, and dig your heels in is a winning strategy.
November 10, 2025 at 3:56 PM
It's not a zero sum game. Every small victory is worth celebrating, even if we don't win them all. Sorry for the campy pep talk, but on the off chance it helps to know you're not alone, it's worth the risk of sounding a little cheesy. :)

Negotiations require debate and compromise from both parties. That's what I'm trying to get if I'm a Democrat in power right now. Just _any_ acknowledgement that Republicans won't continue to dismantle our republic with impunity for the next year before we have a chance to do anything about it.
November 10, 2025 at 3:46 PM
I hear what you're saying. And I know I'm angry and tired and shooting from the hip, but it just feels like a performative popularity contest between predetermined buckets of thought. There's no debate, no nuance, and no real care for how people are affected. The whole system just feels broken.

No. Fuck all of this. It's not about a "brand." They're making decisions that hold direct power over people's lives and livelihood. They're not marketing a fucking sweater. Until the culture of detachment between the "ruling class" and the average resident breaks down, there is no fixing this mess.
November 10, 2025 at 4:36 AM
Unreal... we're negotiating for wins that include the administration actually bothering to obey the law? Fuck every one of these smug self-important suits.
November 10, 2025 at 4:31 AM
I looked you in the eye, face to face, in April before the first time Democrats caved and sold us out for empty promises and vague handwaving from Republicans about our Healthcare. 7 months have passed, and they've done nothing to honor those promises. And now you've joined them. We deserve better.
November 10, 2025 at 4:06 AM
But if there's one thing this mess has taught me, it's that they're right about one thing. This system is broken. If we can't count on a single one of the branches of government to do the one thing they're sworn to do... How are we supposed to uphold and protect the constitution on our own?

I'm a patient person. I keep my head down. I work hard. I try to be a good neighbor and a good citizen. I believe in my country and I sure as hell won't capitulate to these clowns like congress has, because I'm not interested in the corrupt authoritarian hellscape that they're selling.
November 10, 2025 at 3:26 AM
Even the baby was booing. I heard it. 🤣
November 10, 2025 at 12:09 AM
Please re-read your own words. This republican congress has done nothing but lie, cheat, steal, and gaslight since January. If you give an inch based on good faith promises, then you'll have given that inch for nothing. They will not honor their word. Please stand strong for our democracy.

Just tried calling Fetterman's office and got a message redirecting me to his website since it's outside of normal business hour, and then I was disconnected. There wasn't even an option to leave a message. Holy hell, the negligence...
November 9, 2025 at 11:49 PM
At a certain point, I think there's pressure on Republicans to give -something-. And they need to. Trump was even floating the "blow up the filibuster" thing. It just doesn't make any sense to me to cave with absolutely nothing to show for it when even Trump is pressuring R's to end it.
November 9, 2025 at 11:28 PM
You don't get to hold a gun to someone's head and say it's their fault. Republicans have had months to negotiate practically anything with democrats to govern responsibly. But they aren't interested in responsible governance. This is a power grab. Democrats are not obligated to comply.
November 9, 2025 at 11:12 PM
We'll see. But even if that happens, we have free will and the obligation to stand up for what's right. There are a lot more of us. There's still resistance in Russia, too. This isn't the first time evil has slithered out of our swamps, and it sure as hell won't be the last. I'll keep fighting.
November 9, 2025 at 10:39 PM
Far from it. It's never done. But we've got a really shitty hill to climb to get back out of this completely stupid and unnecessary hole.
November 9, 2025 at 9:38 PM
Uuuggghhh. I'm so mad I can't even type with proper punctuation... Say it with me, Chuck. "We do not negotiate with terrorists!" That includes the snarky condescending weasels who have infiltrated our government. Goddammit, man!
November 9, 2025 at 9:18 PM
They... lie... why are Dems still willing to give up ANY ground based on good faith assurances. This republican congress has never made good on a single one of them. What the actual fuck?
November 9, 2025 at 9:10 PM
They're grasping at straws. And, unfortunately, the American masses have an appetite for trash drama with a dash of sex. I hate it. I hate it so much. Reality TV is a plague.
