Oh, I'm well aware you'd know that. But one never knows who *else* is new to the information.

(Surprise, surprise- the founder of ABA was also THE pioneer of queer conversion torture. I refuse to call it therapy. It's the exact fucking opposite of therapy- even though there's plenty a "therapist" who aligns with that kind of attitude.)

Here we can see one of its many commonalities with queer conversion torture- that the victim has to pretend to be a totally different person for the rest of their life and yet no matter how hard we try, we'll never "scrub away the flaws" that they hate so much.

It also operates on the idea that Autistic people will forever be children, who will never deserve adult rights or the respect they think only adults deserve. That we have to simultaneously "become non-Autistic" yet accept a world that considers us eternally and inherently inferior.

To these sorts, the proper way for them TO help you is to tell you what to do.

(In many ways, it's very much based on the way they treat AFAB people in general- especially when several religious traditions act like women are the "cause of original sin." Boundaries and authority are for Adult Men Only- and only the manly ones.

ABA operates on the idea that adults have inherent authority over children, even strangers, which is DANGER DANGER DANGER. And then the people they put through ABA internalize it as though EVERYONE has inherent authority over them because they're "broken."

People CANNOT function for long at a bare minimum. Not well. It fuels hostility and fatigue, which is part of WHY society likes to keep the masses as poor as possible- it fosters division and makes it much harder to stand up for yourselves and each other.
