I just finished the most rambling, disjointed, ill-structured lecture series I've ever been part of. Even with course objectives next to me, I could hardly make out what I was supposed to learn. I don't have any trouble with other courses, so I am assigning blame.

The peer reviewed article I am currently reading would have been sent back to me by my professors 30 years ago with the remark:
"Write more clearly. Do not use jargon where it isn't necessary. Do not use complex words where simple ones will work."

First Conclusions as an (Almost) fifty year old student:
- The main challenge is time. There were no kids, work or household first time around!
- They expected so much MORE from us 30 years ago. These are the books. Read them. You're supposed to be able to figure out what's important.

I am almost fifty. I will be in a month and a half. I often wondered what I would be doing with my life around this time.
Going back to college isn't what I expected, but I am so grateful for the chance!
It does mean that pictures for a while will be very few and mostly from the archives.

I remember making a post on Facebook in September 2016 that there was a non-trivial possibility that the Cubs would defeat the Indians in the World Series in the same week that Trump was elected President. It is clear that by that point the timeline had moved to the bad place.

After living and working in the US for 20 years, including working as an RBT and a museum educator, I still had to pass an English proficiency test before I am allowed to register for classes in graduate school, even after getting admitted and corresponding frequently with the admissions office.

I always make a wish list for Christmas and birthdays and so on. It has dozens of things on it from cheap to not. For years it had a puzzle Advent calendar. No one bought it. This year I stumbled over one at Goodwill during the summer.

Sometimes I know what I want to tell, sometimes the story appears only later. I asked for a slow circle ...and the way it turned out felt like a full ...flounce. Is the unicorn guarding her exit? Or did he cause this?
