Less flexible may move around and 'crack' less? So the paint will look better over time possibly.

Well, I'd suggest if there is some sealing around your house that is needed, use the flexible on that and use the less flexible on the layout. If any is left from the house, use that up. Or use that up first and keep the less flexible for later?

Maybe the rubberized material is detached from the other canvas / nylon material? That is what is going on with my ALICE pack.
