Between Noel in the military, Tager in Sector 7, Litchi in Orient Town, each character held down a sort of 'zone' of the world. By CF though, Mori needed to see his OCs in the game and while Naoto, Es, Mai are cool and all-- they don't serve the original steampunk timeloop premise at all.

I think this also has to do with shifting priorities and earlier side characters getting pushed out as priorities shifted. Carl was supposed to be a *main dude* when the world was this anime steampunk idea. You have a bit of a 'world warriors' idea when you take CT's cast with this in mind--

I understand what you mean better now. It just comes down to a lack of grime. I think CSE was peak for the series (especially with those character palettes at the back with the black shading).

Which would be fascinating because when you go online people play a whole lot of Es and Susan
