today i spun a wheel of names to decide which npcs i should draw interacting and somehow i still ended up drawing pest #regretevator

itll be really funny if the comic continues and its revealed they actually have a great relationship to eachother. still i like to think 1314/pest has had a bad history with relationships. it seems realistic. i think his current state is already more mature by comparison
it's hard to speculate on betty and billy's characters when most of their appearances are in non canon doodles. and also that blacked out panel... that's their only talking roles and its hidden behind a 600% brightness and contrast filter. but from the order of the dialogue and the position of the characters l'd assume that betty is the one who spots 1314 and billy is the one who offers to patch them up, so I assume that billy is some kind of a medic. makes sense with all those arms I guess. he seemed a bit tired to do it, maybe he's worn out from the state of things. maybe a bit more empathetic and emotional? betty seems more straight forward and snarky? I like that drawing of betty nudging 1314 in the side while they're looking very irritated. maybe she is kind of annoying to him. that's the only speculation with supporting evidence, the rest is just pure insanity Something is better than nothing. It's not good to let things go to waste. That's the idea I usually get when I have to think of these three and their dynamics. Crest Falls is already unsafe and they're all struggling under that pressure, but to me the more first-hand conflict between them is actually their differing ideals and values. 1314 especially. 1314 is the conflict, actually. They seem to have always been on the run, and this may be the first time they were really forced to stay in 'one place' (stick with the same people) for a long time, and it's very challenging for them. Which of course only leads to bitterness and aggression for no apparent reason. Betty and Billy want to help, of course, but I don't think either of them are suited to help 1314 to that level, and it's unfortunate. They end up hurting each other in the process. Hurting? I don't know if I could say that, compared to the circumstances. Rather they just make things more 'difficult' for each other. None of them are in a position to be an anchor, they're all being shaken by the same current. But they stay together just because it's…

its already been implied (though it took me a while to figure out,) that the reason why pest is charged with being an 'escapee' is because he left crest falls, but the fact the city itself is literally contained in a circle wall adds a lot to the imagery. he literally broke out of the cycle damn
