I meant to start this at the beginning of the year but as a chronic procrastinator, I’m getting around to it now.

My very cool boss at my side job got me this for the holidays. It’s VERY dense but I want to try to share a page/concept/silly blurb in an attempt to get me to read it.

My album of the year is The Sound a Body Makes When It’s Still by Hot Mulligan. Hot Mully usually calls themselves post-emo something similar while I prefer to call them a lot. Multiple vocal tracks, multiple guitar motifs, layered production and unsubtle lyrics. Good music to hate yourself to.

My game of the year 2025 is HYPERBEAT by DREAMWARE. As an avid rhythm game enjoyer, this game scratched a very deep itch. The gameplay flows wonderfully smoothly but that’s not why it wins. It was the first game this year to get me to slow down and really digest what it had. Artists should buy this.

My movie of the year 2025 is awkward this year mostly because I never got around to watching much but I need a pick. The thing I watched that stuck the most was the visual album for SHINBANGUMI by Ginger Root. Adult Swim continues to prove not every network is ass.

I regret to inform other card gamers that Riftbound has The Sauce.

I’ve never seen a system scale so well. Both 1v1 and 4 player FFA feel great. Haven’t played teams or 3p but it’s evident the designers were really in the tank over this.

Four cards, four card types that are hugely influential to the way you enjoy Magic:
Young Pyromancer - {1}{R} Creature - Human Shaman Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, create a 1/1 red Elemental creature token. Fevered Visions - {1}{U}{R} Enchantment At the beginning of each player’s end step, that player draws a card. If that player is your opponent and has four or more cards in hand, ~ does 2 damage to them. Electrolyze - {1}{U}{R} Instant ~ deals 2 damage divided as you choose among one or two targets. Draw a card. Sword of Once and Future - {3} Artifact - Equipment Equipped creature gets +2/+2 and has protection from blue and black. Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, surveil 2. Then you may cast an instant or sorcery spell with mana value 2 or less from your graveyard without paying its mana cost. If that spell would be put into your graveyard, exile it instead. Equip {2}
