Neither, this is a live steam loco built by Roundhouse!

I specified the colour and will be doing further modifications to make it more Duke-like, but can't take credit for the masterful model making!

This is only the beginning though, lots to do on him beyond these test runs!

First things first though, time to get a name on him!

This was ordered brand new from Roundhouse and was done in a custom colour for me, that being Rover Russet Brown - I tried to find a shade as close as possible to the original illustrations and I *think* I got it spot on.

Ran absolutely beautifully straight out of the box - literally only arrived today and I was straight down the garden with it after work!

Equally in the lectures where he talks about liveries under BR he does say "We have been able to maintain our liveries" when punctuating a point about how BR didn't include them in things and didn't enforce much control.

If he intended for them to have crests, this is where he'd say it.

If it's any help, if you get to Birmingham the Aberystwyth/Pwlheli train is the one you want and on a good day it's direct to Tywyn!

Oh I'm well aware haha

Hallo, one of the organisers here!

Tywyn is pretty booked up, by Aberdyfi, Barmouth, Porthmadog or Machynlleth may have room - all served by the Cambrian Coast Line that Tywyn is also on!

The Talyllyn is a 5 min walk from Tywyn mainline station.

The NWR was nationalised and didn't display crests - but would certainly end up with things like AWS etc

but there's a good chance Wilbert might have sanded away the banjo part of one with the thing style as in the picture above.

The same model appears in another photograph, lined up with the other "main" engines at the time and I reckon it was repainted.

It's defo not Triang, I reckon it's a Trix one.

Now, the image I have here obviously has a banjo dome rather than the regular A1 dome, but an earlier version of the Trix A3 was available with this style of dome.

I'm trying to find evidence of one of these slightly later ones with an A1 dome.
