Talk with your colleagues about safety protocols. When is it okay to share each other's contact information? If you're in the office, how do you field requests from unexpected visitors? Is there a manager or department leader willing to field emails on your behalf?

Things we learned from my wife being profiled by Campus Reform a few years ago:

- Be careful responding to emails from people you don't know asking about your research
- Don't list your office location on your university web profile page

The PSF Grants Program has been temporarily paused after hitting our 2025 funding cap early.

The PSF has paused our Grants Program
Effective August 1st, 2025, the PSF is temporarily pausing our Grants Program after reaching our 2025 grant budget cap earlier than expected. We know how important this program is to many in our community and making this decision was difficult. This is a necessary step to protect both the future of the program and the short- and long-term sustainability of the PSF. (If this moves you immediately to donate to the PSF, we welcome your contributions via our donations page).

Incident Report of the recent #PyPI Phishing Campaign

TL,DR:
• PyPI was not breached
• PyPI users were targeted with phishing emails
• A single project saw uploads with malicious code and those releases have been removed

Heads Up, #Python Developers!

There is an active phishing attack targeting PyPI users.

• Threat: Emails from [email protected] (with a 'j') link to a fake login page.
• Action: Do not click any links. If you already did, change your PyPI password ASAP.
• Note: PyPI itself has not been breached.

I am convinced* that @Yhg1s is in the process of creating the most important* study* in the history of #python, and you should contribute to it: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfRgC-YWEriHW_rbcBY9jWJf35w3bPxP01Mg5EAu25lOyPAeg/viewform
Informal Pointless Python Survey
This is an informal, unscientific survey of (sort of) Python questions, with which I'd like to try to make something amusing, maybe something involving families feuding somehow. (I may have been inspired by https://www.theincomparable.com/gameshow/feud/.) Whether it works depends partly on how many and what kind of answers people give. There is intentionally no rigor to these questions. The vagueness is on purpose. Answer with the first thing that comes to mind. Don't try to over-think it, the point isn't to get the "right" answers. If you really don't know how to answer a question it's okay to leave it blank, but it's more fun if you try to answer anyway. I promise not to ridicule any individual answers, so don't hold back! I will clean up responses, remove any identifying data, and not tie anything to individuals in any way. After I'm done with the responses (which may take a while), I'll post the aggregated, cleaned-up set for other people to enjoy.
