Welcome wonderful world of SXM modules, if you hadn't seen them already. These are in servers and NVIDIA workstations.

This is why LLMs are so great for step 1. Less great for step 2

It's completely unsustainable but it should be $300. The performance won't be significantly better than a PS5, upscaling will do a lot of heavy lifting.

Interesting, thanks. That's better than I expected from what I saw online, but the NPU is a big deal!

Limited GPU support that excludes no ML. Even if you don't plan to use generative models, there's a lot of ways to benefit from GPU compute. At best there's rudimentary support for Vulkan. Theres some solid silicon you'll be locked out of using.

As a cloud 1.0'er... 😭

I'm also also annoyed that Carmack is out there obtaining fame and fortune while a trans colleague of similar or greater significance to their common industry had to beg for help with a Gofundme... because even the most successful among us struggle. In no small part due to people like Carmack.

also its surreal to see him mentioning KansasFest 2020 as the time they reconnected... that was my own first Kansasfest and the first time I had the chance to meet Rebecca.

RIP Queen ❤️

what's the point when open source models will do what goog won't

There's always something new to learn, even if that's a celebrity death or a world news. Multi-model MoE routing, reranking, and better RL can help with overfitting.

Not all git branches get pulled or merged. Branches can become abandoned via evolutionary pressure.

Neat. I synced them from the House's google drive but this is much more accessible 😅

Not surprised... hearing lots about opportunities building EU datacenters from platform engineering and cloud circles.

Whereas in the US, the frenzy seems more silicon and application layer?

idk, maybe gamers won't want these servers, but the homelab community is already building Deepseek level AI systems.

Also unemployment is up and not due to the fault of workers. Some of the best engineers I've known have been hit by macro factors.
