a) I know it's probably uncool to post b) it's all possibly a quirk of the Big River place c) I don't really care. I'm so touched by all the support this new book has had so far, I couldn't have imagined getting anywhere near top ten poetry books. Thank you! 🥹

I’ve a poetry chapbook coming out in a week so putting it out there, if anyone's interested in reviewing it or is hosting a reading and looking for readers please hmu.

Also, sorry if I don't get the ratio of interesting & selfless: self-promotion right on here, I am but an idiot

You know a book is good when it has a coffee stain on it within a couple of days! This pamphlet from @victoriaspires.bsky.social on @salopress.bsky.social is so good; rich, varied, and always illuminating (soi-lui a personal fave)

Had such a good time writing football/soccer poems for Michigan Quarterly's special soccer folio, subs open until the end of the month. I reflected on growing up in 90s Northern Ireland, how football tops held currency, clear symbols of identity (not necessarily for the good) ⚽️

This one pretty much sums up the relationship I have with poetry and - who am I kidding? - with myself 😬😬. Thanks so much to @poolpartymag.com for publishing it recently; they’re doing really cool stuff 📱

For the @havehashad.com call I'm working on something so haddy I've broken the official had-speed barrier into a place that, if you squint, looks like a fusty British Library that forbids both heart and levity.

RIP Yorkshire poet and playwright, Tony Harrison. This is one of my favourite poems, perfectly illustrating the depths of emotion you can find in everyday language, in approaching writing with humility and honesty

Writing is the best, creating pasts that didn't break you or futures that might, creating worlds and making sense.

That's extremely earnest but sometimes in the doing it hits you afresh.
