The guy with all the worst words.
A few games that play with time (travel) jokingly allow you to set up time paradoxes that resolve with a game over or the universe collapsing, such as Outer Wilds or MGS3.

While I generally liked the game, I found myself constantly recalibrating my expectations of what the intended "game" was across the first two thirds of the experience, which somewhat interrupted my flow and enjoyment.

I wish they'd found a way to communicate that a bit differently.

I could not agree more about the tension between the UI's emphasis on cork-board thinking and the way information actually surfaces throughout the game, especially when the side stories butt up against the main thread.

I wonder if this connection to Star Trek puts Half Life 2 into that Tommy Westphall connected universe meme...

I'm on the "Dark Messiah doesn't have enough systems exposed to the player to qualify as an immersive sim" train.
November 20, 2025 at 12:56 AM
Yeah, especially since with the systems balanced in the way they are currently, you essentially have to put in ~20 hours of manual orchestration of the world state if you want to play through eg. the French or American revolutions.

Although i imagine it is labour intensive, creating alt. bookmarks.

There's only one start point at the moment, they haven't done the state map for the entire timeline like they did with EU4, or even a couple of options like CK3 has.

The Extended Timeline modding team had early access to the game and are actively working on more (arbitrary?) dates.

Oh my god, that's a lot of trim to paint a single batch. I don't think I could do it.

I've always enjoyed DS1's Seath the Scaleless runback over the invisible platforms in the Crystal Caverns. The entire route is littered with bloodstains of folks who fell off the invisible platforms, over whom I feel a hubristic superiority. Then I too fall, because I was too busy being smug.

Good piece of boys music helps out too, just sets an amazing atmosphere.

I'm less into the finals part of the Fury's final Cutscene though.
